Enjoy This! Our Guacamole Recipe From Texas

The sun is out and summer Has arrived. The time for dinner parties, patio gatherings, and a circle of men standing around a grill is here! So enjoy this! After living in Texas 15 years, I give to you: Our guacamole recipe.

Here’s the gear you will need:

  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Large bowl for mixing
  • Bowl to squeeze lime juice in
  • Bowls for serving
  • Fork
  • Large Spoon

Now, you’ll need to buy all these ingredients fresh and get them prepared. NO SUBSTITUTES!

  • 5 Haas avocados, halved, seeded and peeled
  • 1 lime, juiced fresh
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 medium red onion, diced fresh
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
  • 3 Roma tomatoes, diced fresh
  • 1 ½ – 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
  • 2 clove garlic, minced

Here’s what to do:
Prepare ALL ingredients fresh. Now, take that large bowl and fill it with the insides of that freshly prepared avocado. Pour the lime juice over the avocado and coat it; make sure it is coated completely. After the avocado has sat there a minute or so covered in lime juice, drain the juice and keep it off to the side for a few.

Add the salt and use a fork to smash it together.  Then, mix in the onions, jalapeno, tomatoes, cilantro, and garlic. Once you’ve mixed it up and it is nice and thick, add about 1 Tablespoon of that lime juice back in. Make sure it is nice and thick; don’t add too much lime juice back in. There are few things more tragic than watered down guacamole.

Serve and eat immediately. NOTE: Guacamole turns brown if you let it sit. Eat it now, and eat it all!

Great recipe and photos. You can also experiment with adding a dash or two of Tabasco and a splash of Worcestershire. That’s how I learned to rock it in South Texas.
