Pick Up The Phone

What if I just picked up the phone and called you?

I know (kind of) what everyone I’ve ever known is up to through Social Media, but my list of “people I haven’t seen in a while and need to hang out with soon” keeps growing. I’m busy. I started a Real Estate business with my wife. I spend time with church planters and church re-planters. One day I’ll do what they do. I have kids, and they have their own lives (usually involving the attendance and driving of one or more parents), and every once in a while we also make time for the same few friends. I’m busy like the rest of you. And I know that you’re just as busy because of social media.

What if I just picked up the phone and called you? Weird, since I can just text you or send an email, right?

I’m not an anti social media guy. I love it, actually. It is the only way I can keep up with so many people. But here’s the thing: I’ve come to the conclusion that most likely, I’ll never be able to get together with everyone on my list (see above). I know way too many people.

So I decided to just pick up the phone, scroll through my contacts, and just start calling people. No agenda, no excuse or reason, just a phone call. Because Social Media. And email. I know, that’s so 1997. I’m probably going to call you.

What if I just picked up the phone and called you? We’re about to find out.
